We caught up with the fledgling soulful pop star Cat Burns to find out a little more about her via some quick-fire questions as she forges a path to pop success entirely independently, raising other women up with her.

At the age of 18, Cat Burns already knows the value of independence. “I like writing stuff that tells girls, we are a lot stronger than we think,” says the south London singer-songwriter. “And to trust our heads. To take the power back.” It’s no surprise, then, that she’s also forging a path to pop success entirely independently, with a string of Soundcloud R&B cuts under her belt and a fine tuned ear for a pop hook.

Following on from her previous single ‘Sober’, London based, singer-songwriter Cat Burns is back with candid new pop track ‘Just Us’, out now via RAW Records label. The laid-back, self-written track ‘Just Us’ highlights Cat Burns’ honest lyrics and stunning, soulful vocal, which are laid on top of a simple production that emphasises Burns’ frank and distinctively infectious sound and style. On ‘Just Us’, Cat warns a boy not to get “too gassed” about a relationship, in a gender-flipped version of a song we typically hear from the other perspective. Cat Burns explains “When boys fall in love, they fall hard and sometimes it takes the girl longer to feel the same, so this song is a representation of that.”
