An artist we’ve very much been loving and very excited to hear more from, Layfullstop holds a captivating capacity for crafting tracks that flow with soulful, mellifluous suavity and exude a gilded, glistening charisma. Having recently released her mesmerising latest single ‘Cherries’, the Manchester-based artist shares some of the tracks that have influenced her vibrant, enchanting sound.
Last year Lay released the richly textured Colour Reaction mixtape, offering a perfect introduction to and immersion into her eclectic sonic world by way of sublimely intricate soundscapes that proffer a graceful blend of soulful grooves, sauntering jazz-tinged piano melodies, off-kilter, lilting beats and cascading, honeyed vocals.
Her newest track sees Lay further blossom and grow with her sound, expressing a self-assured serenity. Speaking on her new single she says “Cherries is about being aware of the type of fruits we produce as people, but it also sheds a light on the new seed of femininity that’s growing within me and me embracing it”.
An inspiring, rapidly rising voice in the UK soul and hip-hop scene, get to know Layfullstop and some of the sounds that have inspired her music.

One of my biggest inspirations when it comes to HipHop, these guys remind me of my collective ‘Roots Raddix‘. I love how they never had to do too much, it was just beats and bars!

This artist has inspired me in so many ways, not just by her music, but her aura and stage presence.
