Imbued with emotive warmth and lyrical vulnerability, Lina Tullgren’s songs are beautifully and intricately intimate. We caught up with the Queens, NY, based artist ahead of their second album, Free Cell, coming out tomorrow.

Tullgren’s songwriting exudes an earnest, melodic tenderness that crafts this space of solace and comfort in their music. On Free Cell, their sound encompasses rich, lilting string and brass arrangements, glisteningly smooth piano melodies, and delicate lingering guitar refrains atop which Tullgren’s soft, harmonious vocals float. The record follows on from their 2017 debut Won and sees Tullgren take their songwriting and composition to new realms. Across the twelve tracks, there’s an understanding and openness established between Tullgren and the listener as we’re invited into this deeply personal soundscape, born, in part, out of isolation and exploring feelings of alienation. Poetic, reflective, and achingly, sublimely emotive, Tullgren’s songwriting has enchanted us for quite some time.

With their new record out tomorrow, and a string of UK tour dates with Frankie Cosmos in October, get to know Lina Tullgren In Short…
