TRACK OF THE WEEK

Alexander Geist – Transparent

The end of an era is upon us and, with it, the death of Berlin’s most quaint performer and queer icon. Alexander Geist is putting to rest the persona we’ve learned to love and cherish, after seven years of lavish performances, touring, collaborations and recording. Their final treat ‘Transparent’, produced by Bendik Giske, is a paced ballad layered in soft synths, wit and saxophone riffs, seeing Geist vulnerable, yet still empowered and ready to leave peacefully. Remarking on their upcoming death, Geist commented simply, “The future is dead, and so am I.

Among other releases, don’t miss out on two power collaborations; ‘Lara’, between Sassy 009 and Clairo, and ‘Luminous Spaces’, uniting Jon Hopkins and Kelly Lee Owens once again. Elsewhere, Berlin’s Shybits go kung fu fighting in Volkspark Friedrichshain in their latest video for ‘Bruce Lee’, Nick Cave’s protegé Martha Sky Murphy has a new video for ‘Black Eye’, Aisha Badru‘s heartfelt ‘Soil’s Daughter and many more!
