TRACK OF THE WEEK

Sevdaliza – Joanna

A release by Sevdaliza should be a moment of reflection. Preparing her sophomore album, due out this Summer, the Iranian-Dutch chanteuse, on her latest track, ‘Joanna’, balances an atmosphere of pain with layers of beauty – made possible by her cinematic ear and mastery in creating haunting vibes.

According to the singer, her new single is “a reflection of the unbearable suffering crawling into our lives in different shapes. Joanna is the kind of love that has loved deeply and lost deeply. The kind of love that does not die. The kind of love that is hidden in a secret place, hungry, curled and wounded. You never have to worry about it’s ending. Joanna has endless potential to live on. For some fortunate, you will be able to experience her. For some fortunate, you will be able to escape her.”

From Rival Consoles’ shining new single, ‘Articulation’, to Widowspeak‘s Breadwinner, we’re also featuring ‘No Glory in the West’ by Orville Peck and Nubya Garcia‘s ‘Pace’.
