Ahead of Dekmantel, Rush Hour’s Cinnaman highlights some of his favourite spots in Amsterdam…
Named Cinnaman after a taste for candy cinnamon sticks, Yuri Boselie AKA Cinnaman has been DJing since he was just 12 years old. Fast forward to 2019, and he has long since cemented himself a position as one of the most respected artists amid Amsterdam’s electric underground scene.
A former resident at both Trouw, Club 11 and now holding down a residency at De School, Boselie does A&R for esteemed label Rush Hour Records, has a regular show on Red Light Radio, and plays a show at Dekmantel every year. Check his Boiler Room set from 2017 below…
Cinnaman’s Red Light Radio show, Visible Spectrum, showcases the breadth of his taste, turning to a spectrum of sounds and style from hip hop, to soul, to techno and garage. His DJ sets are equally varied, impressing with his ability to read a crowd and curate a vibe his policy is records that excite him, rather than sticking to a particular sonic.
Cinnaman plays Dekmantel’s UFO II stage with Solar on Saturday 3rd August from 17.30 to 19.30.

This is a favourite spot for a lot of DJs so with Dekmantel or ADE you will probably find some eating here before or after the festival. I’ve never had such good Chinese as this one. I’ve probably eaten here a hundred times and it never gets boring.

You can add the School to everything. Eat, Dance, Drink. In the summer the terrace/ garden is super cosy and a beautiful place to have a drink before going out. The food in the restaurant is also amazingggg.
Volkshotel is a great place to sleep. After Trouw closing, which took about 3 or 4 days, I was too tired to go all the way home to the west of Amsterdam so I booked a room here.I really enjoyed my sleep there and now my studio is also in the basement of the hotel. So it’s like my second home.
Garage Noord is a small club with cutting edge programming and such good vibes. If you go there, discover the north of Amsterdam, it has some great restaurants.

This is a museum which opened again a few years back after a long restoration. It’s a hidden church from a few hundred years ago. It’s amazing to see how people were living in that time, and the church on the upper floor is a must see.
Just bike around the city and see how beautiful it is. Watch out for locals 😉
