Through the telling of her own stories and of those not so easily heard, RIMON is one of the most exceptionally empowering artists that has come around for a while. After the Amsterdam based singer-songwriter released her debut EP BBYGIRL FOCU$ last month, we caught up with her to find out a little more about what does (and doesn’t) make her tick.
Seemingly out of nowhere, without any introduction, Eritrean born but Amsterdam based RIMON arrived early 2018 with ‘Grace’. Packed with a rare sophisticated confidence, the track, and it’s accompanying Soul Train inspired video, was the perfect introduction to the 21-year old artist. Her music is inspired by her own life – the struggles she experienced as a refugee (having fled Eritrea with her mother when she was a toddler), growing up as a foreigner within Dutch culture, being inspired by the Amsterdam underground music scene and her personal stories of falling in and out of love.
As a result, RIMON’s voice is one of the most exceptionally empowering that has come around for a while. RIMON cares about female empowerment. About growth. About telling stories. Her own, but also the stories of voices not so easily heard. With this, we were super excited to finally get out hands on her debut EP BBYGIRL FOCU$ when it came out towards the end of last month and so we caught up with the singer to find out a little more about her with some quick-fire questions…
