Through Tommy’s own struggles, music has always been there as a form of comfort when people are not enough and now he’s writing to bring that comfort to others. We spoke to the singer-songwriter as his new single ‘Pyre’ graces the public realm…
After watching people close to him suffer through mental illness and heartbreak, Tommy’s feelings became detached from the everyday life and towards deeper meanings. He began to write songs that, although often bleak, look to bring hope to those that are experiencing pain.
With only two singles, ‘Binary Love’ and ‘Front’, Tommy has already amassed a substantial band of loyal listeners and it’s no wonder with the emotions he conveys not only through his songwriting but through the melodies and instruments that contain them. The building orchestral strings in ‘Binary Love’ which, along with his voice, emit feelings of hope that reach a crescendo. The reverberating guitar which stands alone behind his impassioned vocal cries on ‘Front’. Basically, when we heard that his third single ‘Pyre’ was on it’s way, we knew to be prepped for a ride.
Tommy’s latest release, ‘Pyre’ demonstrates his selfless writing in the hope to improve others lives. The single once again offers something completely different from the previous, whilst continuing Tommy’s emotional narratives and depth. In ‘Pyre’, guitar is swapped for piano, impassioned, loud vocals are swapped for something soft and powerful, all-in-all creating a song that offers comfort and warmth to its listener.

The best venue I’ve played…
I played an open mic at a small bar in Berlin a few years ago. The people there were lovely and it always reminds me why I make music. It also had tables and chairs on the ceiling!
