TRACK OF THE WEEK

Tricky – Lonely Dancer (feat. Anika)

Both Berlin residents with Bristolian roots, Tricky and Anika combined strengths, resulting in the first offering from Tricky’s forthcoming EP, 20,20, via his own label, False Idols. Released ahead of his Eastern Europe tour, ‘Lonely Dancer’ is a tense ballad reflecting on one’s inability to truly know or see another person. It’s eerie, sombre and a feat only possible with the expertise of two masters, brought up in the wave of trip-hop and downtempo electronica. 20,20 is out on March 3rd.

In other news… Purity Ring‘s comeback single ‘stardew’ caught us by surprise, as did Sofia Portanet’s ‘Art Deco’ and Jessy Lanza‘s fantastic ‘Lick In Heaven’. Among these releases, this week’s Tracks Of The Week also features newcomer, Cecile Believe‘s ‘Last Thing He Said To Me In Person’, Yves Tumor‘s ‘Gospel For A New Country’, Military Genius‘ ‘L.M.G.D, Perlee‘s ‘Charlie’s Song’, Yumi Zouma‘ ‘Southwark’, ‘Earth Angel’ by Activity, Ålesund‘s ‘All Hail To Your Queen’ and many more!
